WordPress Editor in 2.6 Series is Broken
I have no idea what they were smoking… but the developers of the WordPress blogging software took a working editor and turned it into something highly unusable.
Example: to upload an image and insert it into a post in the old WordPress, you clicked upload, filled the title and caption, pressed “send to editor” and that’s it. Well, that sounds logical enough, and usability is good.
Contrast that to the new editor, then.
In the new editor, you click on a small image, get a slow, ugly and confusing Javascript-popup thingamajic (which does not work on all browsers), where you have to click around to do the upload and captions, then list all images, then do this do that and finally, from somewhere, through a sheer stroke of luck, you manage to accidentally click on something to send the picture to the editor.
As an added bonus there is NO obvious place to revert the editor functionality to what it was. It’s very annoying! The whole upgrade to 2.6-series was a bit like waiting for the next episode of your favorite TV-series, only to find out that the TV-series has been replaced with melancholic, pale-coloured and crappy Soviet-era commercials about canned pork meat.
