Wordpress Plugin to Hide Protected Pages

I could not find this functionality in Wordpress, so I rolled my own. It’s like the simplest Wordpress plugin in the world. With it you can hide (password) protected pages from being displayed. The plugin lives here.

New Static Zenburn Page

Re-updating the re-updates of updates of a post made in the past didn’t make sense anymore. So I made a static page for all Zenburn stuff. Enjoy the Zenburn page.

It has background information on Zenburn and lists all ports and derivatives known to me (please send a mail if you know more).

My Morning Just Got a Lot Better

This morning I was bored and checked out Slashdot while in the train. In an article about eye-friendly font colors there was a comment thread with a mention about my Vim colorscheme Zenburn. And people seemed to have very positive comments about it, so cool! It really made me smile.

It’s absolutely wonderful that people like Zenburn and such eye-friendly variants. Looking back, I sometimes think how did the colorscheme became what it is now. Well, I made it good for me, and just tweaked it until it felt like “now it’s done”. I also use it at work and at home everyday (thus eating my own dogfood), although it seems to have stabilized enough that I have not needed to tune it in a long while.

It’s just simply so neat to see something one has created being used and enjoyed by people.

PS. In case you’re coming from Slashdot, you might want to read about a bit of history of Zenburn.

How to Access .uif Files in Linux

I’ll cut the introduction short. If you have a CD image file in .uif format (MagicISO proprietary Universal Image Format) and are under Linux, you probably by now are painfully aware of your problem and are interested on just the solution without further ceremonies.

OK, so let me now tell you a way how to access those pesky .uif files under Linux.

Timeline of Jokela

On 8th of November 2007, 18-year old Pekka-Eric Auvinen killed 8 people and himself in the school of Jokela, in southern Finland. Out of curiosity, I made a timeline of the events at Jokela school.

Put a Program to Network Limbo

“Special Blend”, a Dub Mix

In the summer of 2006 I did a dub mix, my second mix ever, using the Mixxx software. Since now the snow has been washed away by water and it’s generally just dark outside, I wanted to get back to the lovely summer we had. Also, I decided to put the mix up to the front page so that it could be enjoyed by any random strangers who might end up here.

Just some alien fruit salad to keep you in the zone.

One day I had gotten totally annoyed with the neon-on-day-glo-vomit-with-sprinkles-of-multicolor colorschemes for the Vim editor, so I decided to write my own. After it seemed to be somewhat ready, I named it Zenburn and uploaded it to the Vim site. This was in 2002. Now it seems the little colorscheme has started to grow on its own! What follows is the short history of Zenburn.
